The Firearms Control Act requires that the holder of a Dedicated Hunter Certificate must participate
in ‘dedicated activities’ in order to maintain the Dedicated Hunter status. The Act also requires
that the accredited association (SA Wingshooters) must have a ‘dedicated process’ in place to
monitor the continued participation of Dedicated Hunters in the mentioned ‘dedicated activities’.
This is the reason why dedicated members are required to submit a Dedicated Activities Report
annually to SA Wingshooters. This report is a compulsory legal requirement and is a must in
order to maintain your Dedicated Hunter status.
The Wingshooters Pocketbook (of which every member receives one free copy with the
compliments of Intervet) includes a complete shooting/hunting/gundog Personal Log incorporating
the landowner’s letter of permission. Your signature is a certified statement confirming your
activities, and the Personal Log comprises your reference records which you use to draw up a
summarised Dedicated Activities Report (next page). The form for this annual report is provided
in the following pages in this Dedicated Award Manual, and is also available from the offices of
SA Wingshooters, or can also be downloaded in electronic format (PDF) from our website. The
report is not complicated and members will find it a simple task to complete, especially using the
Personal Log as a reference. The Personal Log is kept by the member as a reference in the event
of a request for validation by SA Wingshooters or by the authorities.
Your Dedicated Activities Report must reach us with your membership renewal each
year or at least by the end of September. If you are a life member or Club-30 member, the report must reach us before
30 September each year. If you did not shoot or hunt or participate in any dedicated
activities, a ‘not-active’ report must still be provided in order to maintain your Dedicated
Hunter status (included in the Dedicated Report form below.
We also include a form for the voluntary Gamebird Report, which is so important for gamebird
conservation and management in South Africa. Please assist us by completing that too.
